Go American English Graduation 2021

The Go American English graduation was celebrated in recognition of our students’ hard work and commitment. It was a hybrid event with guests attending both virtually and in person. Of course, the most important guests were there in person – the students. Their families and friends joined the celebration online.

The event kicked off with an inspirational speech from the President of the International Studies Foundation, María Díaz de la Cebosa, thanking the students for their dedication and reminding them that this was just the beginning of their journey towards very bright futures. Next, Ana Duque-Higgins, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, delivered a poignant speech about the importance of continuing to strengthen the link they have built between their education and the U.S.A.

Finally, we had the main event which was, of course, the students. They dazzled us with their use of English, making us laugh and delighting us with their accounts of their personal and shared experiences over the past 2 years. They met every challenge with the determination to overcome it – they spoke in public, delivering Ted Talks in English; they continued with their lessons in the uncertainty of the pandemic, and continued to thrive and grow. The audience was blown away by how eloquently the students spoke and it was clear that they had made a special effort to make the event unforgettable.

The students presented their amazing teacher, María de Lara Aguilar, with a bouquet of flowers as a token of their appreciation for everything that she had done for them. The students also showed their appreciation to Brian Wasik for his contribution as assistant teacher.

It was a wonderful event which was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and, of course, plenty of fun. This experience will no doubt leave our students with lifelong friendships and lasting memories.
