CIS University Taking financial education one step further CIS University Finance and Investment Club 1

Taking financial education one step further: CIS University Finance and Investment Club.

There’s a well-known proverb in economics, that says, “The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, and the second best time is right now.” The same applies to personal finance management – the sooner, the better. Even if it might seem like you’re late to the game, there’s always a good moment to take the first step in the right direction.

In an academic environment where personal financial education often remains uncharted territory, CIS University, led by Professor Ricardo Estellés, has taken a step forward in educating its students about finance by launching the “CIS University Finance and Investment Club” (FIC).

This initiative offers its members a platform to share concerns, knowledge, and activities necessary to understand how financial markets operate, the various investment techniques, the alternatives to investing our savings, and, no less importantly, to identify the behavioral biases that every investor faces.

In each weekly session of the Club, students delve into key topics such as real estate returns, compound interest, and variable income. The cycle concluded with a visit to the presentation of the book “The Psychology of Money” at the facilities of one of the Club’s sponsors, the Value School Center, which also contributed by donating various financial-themed books.

According to Professor Estellés, coordinator of the FIC:

“It is crucial to equip our students with strong financial skills to make informed and responsible decisions in their daily and future lives. That’s why we are committed to providing them with comprehensive financial education that allows them to navigate confidently in an ever-changing economic world.”

The Finance and Investment Club focuses on theory and encourages practical experiences, such as investment simulations and discussions on current economic trends, providing students with fertile ground to develop practical skills and critical analysis.

This initiative is part of CIS University’s commitment to holistic education beyond classrooms, enriching the academic experience of its students while also preparing them to confidently manage their finances and face future financial challenges with confidence and expertise.
