CIS University welcomes the 2026–2027 academic year with a dynamic lineup of activities marking the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester, a new chapter filled with opportunities for students and faculty alike. The arrival of a new Academic Dean, the expansion of international initiatives, preparations for the first-ever TEDxCIS University, and the development of new academic programs make this the start of an exciting year full of fresh opportunities and new challenges.
As has become a tradition, the semester began with the Faculty Meeting, led by the new Academic Dean, Dr. Laura López Paniagua, who shared with the faculty the main strategic priorities that will shape the new academic year. During her remarks, she highlighted a humanistic vision of education supported by the three organizations that make up CIS University’s social ecosystem: International Studies Foundation (ISF), Cruzada por los Niños, and the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center Spain.
The Academic Dean also emphasized the importance of preparing students to navigate an environment saturated with information by developing the critical thinking skills needed to identify what matters, make better decisions, and form their own judgment. The beginning of the semester has also welcomed a new class of international and Spanish students, who, during Orientation, have had the opportunity to learn about campus life, academic services, and the many opportunities CIS University offers to enrich their experience beyond the classroom.
Among them are the Math Lab and Writing Lab, designed to strengthen students’ academic performance in these areas, as well as the Language Exchange Program, an initiative that encourages language learning, cultural exchange, and new friendships within a community of students from dozens of nationalities.
Student engagement will once again play a central role throughout the semester. Preparations are already underway for the first-ever TEDxCIS University, which will take place on October 7, as speakers begin rehearsing talks designed to inspire the university community. At the same time, students will once again have the opportunity to contribute to the magazine that CIS University publishes each semester, written by students for students, by submitting articles, feature stories, and photographs that capture campus life from their own perspective.
This academic year also builds on several initiatives launched over the past few months. Following the successful first edition of AI Applied to Entrepreneurship, students will have the opportunity to participate in future editions of the program in Miami during the summer, where they will learn how to use artificial intelligence to develop their own businesses while beginning the Google AI Professional Certificate.
CIS University’s commitment to innovation will continue to grow throughout the semester. The university is already working on a new entrepreneurship hub, with further details to be announced soon, that will further strengthen the connection between academic learning, technological innovation, and professional development.
University life will also continue beyond the classroom through the CIS University clubs. Students can debate and develop their critical thinking and public speaking skills in the Debate Club, expand their financial knowledge in the Investment Club, share their passion for literature in the Book Club, and explore their creativity in The Music Room. They can also join the RFK Human Rights Student Leadership Council, focused on leadership, human rights, and social justice, or the Spanish Club, which promotes Spanish language learning and a deeper appreciation of Spanish culture through social and cultural activities.
With the start of this new academic year, CIS University reaffirms its commitment to an international, humanistic, and innovative education that prepares professionals to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world without losing sight of what truly gives meaning to learning: the formation of people.
