CIS University, via its NGO “Cruzada por los niños” (Crusade for the Children), has raised a total of 5,500 euros to help those affected by the DANA floods in Valencia. Thanks to an agreement with SEPLA-Ayuda Foundation, each euro raised by “Crusade for Children” will be multiplied by five by Iberia and Vueling airlines, bringing the total amount raised to date to 27,500 euros.
“Cruzada por los niños” has been working with the SEPLA-Ayuda Foundation since the beginning of the outbreak of war in Ukraine. The president of CIS University and of “Crusade for Children”, María Díaz de la Cebosa, expressed her enthusiasm for how the initiative has been received among the members of the community. This is the second campaign that the university has done to help those affected by the floods in Valencia, preceded by the collection of cleaning and hygiene products last November.
“We cannot not stand idly by and watch the situation in Valencia. It is a human catastrophe, and we are just 300 kilometers away. It is our country. Just as we have and continue to help with the Ukraine situation, how could we not help Valencia?”, Diaz de la Cebosa said.
The NGO “Cruzada por los Niños” has been taking humanitarian actions for fourteen years both in Spain and in other parts of the world, including the Balkans, Kenya, India, Colombia, Iraq and Mozambique.
Currently, one of its most impactful projects is the socio-sports schools that the foundation has employed in Gorongosa National Park, in Mozambique, in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation and the Greg Carr Foundation. In addition, “Cruzada por los Niños” continues to help a total of 21 displaced Ukrainian incividuals in Spain, most of them children, within the Reception and Integration of Ukrainian Displaced Persons program.
Sustained commitment over time
The first ever project “Cruzada por los Niños” project took place during the Balkan War and, although most of its activities been focused on situations abroad, the organization has also carried out numerous projects in Spain, especially in the Villaverde area (Madrid) and in the north of the country, through training and education in various schools and educational centers.
However, it is expected that the NGO will be able to continue to support those affected by the floods in Valencia in the long term, which is why the university will continue to raise funds indefinitely, i.e. with no currently established time limit.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to the reconstruction of the areas affected by DANA can continue to send their donations via the following Bizum and bank account numbers. This is an initiative worth fighting for.
