CIS University Labs: Training and learning beyond the classroom.

Following the American educational model of continuous training, at CIS University we know that learning goes beyond traditional schedules and classes. For this reason, we have a series of support workshops, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of our students at those points where they need it most, in an enjoyable and interactive way.

Previously, education was seen as a mere transmission of knowledge from the institution to the student; Nowadays, it has been considered a continuous modeling process to obtain the best personal version of each student. But, since there are no two identical people with the same qualities, what to do with those who require extra reinforcement in their training?

With this objective, CIS University has the Writing Labs (Writing Lab) and Mathematics Labs (Math Labs) available to students.

Writing Lab, working and polishing the English language.

As Mark Twain wrote, “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter— ’tis the difference between the lightning-bug and the lightning.” Under this premise, the Writing Lab coordinated by Dr Alex Feldman seeks to enhance the excellence of written articulation in the language of Shakespeare, Lincoln and Churchill.

Through bi-weekly meetings, the student receives support through meetings where creativity in writing is explored, linguistic skills are perfected and a process of continuous improvement in the use of words begins.

The objective, in the words of the coordinator Dr Feldman, “is not only to improve the basics of formal written articulation (grammar, vocabulary, spelling, citing references and etc), but even more to improve his critical thinking capacity – to ask himself the difficult questions it takes to be a skeptical truth seeker.”

Math Lab, the wonderful, and sometimes complex, world of numbers.

For those other students who encounter difficulties in numbers and figures, the University puts at their disposal the Math Lab: four weekly meetings after classes, where the coordinators will work side by side so that the students improve exponentially in the areas of calculation, accounting and algebra.

The premise is to advance from the most basic foundations where the student has gaps, to progress and gradually achieve their objectives.

Letters and numbers, words and calculations, whatever your area to reinforce, at CIS University we have a Lab so you can go as far as you want.

The Writing Lab, led by Professor Alex Feldman, is located in the Computer Lab on floor 0, and takes place every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Mathematics Laboratory takes place from Monday to Thursday in room 0.3 from 3:30 p.m. to 05:05 p.m., and is directed by Professors Alfonso Taboada and Tomás Núñez.

We are waiting for you to improve, learn and grow together!
