CIS University Taking Human Rights to the Youth María Díaz de la Cebosa

“Taking Human Rights to the Youth” María Díaz de la Cebosa

María Díaz de la Cebosa, president of CIS University, officially introduced the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation on June 15th, 2023, in Bilbao.

Speak Truth to Power (STTP) the flagship educational program of the Foundation, was the primary focus. The program itself is inspired by Kerry Kennedy’s book of the same name, “Speak Truth to Power: Human Rights Defenders Who Are Changing our World,” which includes interviews with prominent human rights defenders from over 40 countries and is centered on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This program combines storytelling and interactive learning to provide the next generation with the concrete knowledge they will need to create change and promote human rights.

The event was attended by the Minister of Health, Gotzone Sagarduy; the Deputy Mayor of the City of Bilbao, Amaia Arregi; the City Councilor, Xabier Ochandiano and the President of the Bilbao Society, Juan Ignacio Goiría. Also, some personalities from the board of directors of the Mujer Siglo XXI association attended the event, such as Carmen Miral, Felisa Ramos, Natalia Ortiz Allende, María Tomasa Núñez, Esther Oña, Irati Agirrezabala, and Esther de Miguel.

RFK Human Rights Spain, since its creation, has worked with many partners, including CIS University, through its educational programs; International Studies Foundation, the social responsibility arm of CIS University; the Gregorio Peces-Barba and Fullbright Spain Foundations, as well as the Consejería de Educación de la Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid Education Ministry).

It is a pleasure to share the different social responsibility programs and projects that we develop together with our foundations in order to strengthen understanding and work for a better world through our university.
