PEER TUTOR PROGRAM

The Peer Tutor Program (PTP) focuses on helping students with learning challenges by offering them general support to improve their academic and study skills.

The program consists of matching a student tutor from the CIS University Dean’s List with a student tutee of the Student Support Program and for them to meet weekly for 30 minutes. Tutors are trained to implement effective tutoring strategies that include listening, questioning, responding, and providing feedback. The sessions focus on coursework that is most pressing for the tutee. In addition, weekly follow-up forms on the progress of the tutor sessions are completed and sent regularly by the tutor to the Director of the Department of Student Development.
