In an increasingly complex economic environment, understanding concepts such as compound interest, inflation, and the differences between active and passive investing can help you make more informed and responsible financial decisions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this goal in mind, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cis-spain.com\/en\/academics\/student-support\/cis-clubs\/\"><b>CIS University Investment Club<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has launched a new series of activities for the 2026\/27 academic year, led by Professor Ricardo Estell\u00e9s, President of the Club, and coordinated by Professors George Morgan and Gabriel Ferrer. The Club continues to embrace its <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">learning-by-doing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> philosophy, helping students learn about investing by analyzing, discussing, and putting their knowledge into practice week after week.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Activities include analyzing and selecting stocks using tools such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cis-spain.com\/en\/blog\/cis-university-stock-analyzer-pro-an-ai-based-business-analysis-tool\/\"><b>CIS University Stock Analyzer Pro<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an introduction to the fundamentals of personal finance, as well as financial book analyses and summaries prepared by the students themselves.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the Club\u2019s core activities, the <\/span><b>Portfolio Challenge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, also returns this year. This simulation allows students to build and manage an investment portfolio without using real money, track its performance, and share their decisions with the other participants.<\/span><\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42118\" title=\"CIS University CIS University Investment Club Kicks Off the 2026 27 Academic Year 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cis-spain.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/10\/CIS-University-CIS-University-Investment-Club-Kicks-Off-the-2026_27-Academic-Year-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p><h2>Back to the Basics<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor Gabriel Ferrer then delivered the first talk of the year, \u201cBack to the Basics: Why Investing Should No Longer Be Optional,\u201d an introduction to the essential principles of personal finance and investing.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The session gave new members the opportunity to become familiar with the vocabulary and concepts they will encounter throughout the year, while returning members were able to revisit some of the fundamentals. The talk presented investing as a long-term process that begins with earning an income, building an emergency fund, and understanding the power of compound interest before starting to invest.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The session ended by putting one of the Club\u2019s principles into practice: students teach too. The next session, dedicated to compound interest, will be prepared and presented by the students themselves to their classmates.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2026\/27 academic year thus marks a new chapter for the CIS University Investment Club, conceived not as a traditional class but as a space where professors and students share knowledge and learn together. As Professor Ricardo Estell\u00e9s put it: \u201cThis is a club, not a class or a course.
