During his opening remarks, he highlighted how strong speaking skills can open professional doors, strengthen personal relationships, and make a real difference in leadership.<\/span><\/p>Reflecting the international character of CIS University, each speech offered a unique perspective. Contestants shared personal stories about adapting to new countries, leaving home behind, the power of sport to bring people together, the sacrifices required to pursue a dream, and the ability to reinvent oneself when life changes unexpectedly.<\/span><\/p>One of the most memorable moments of the competition came from student <\/span>Carlos Garmendia, <\/b>better known as<\/span> DJ Charly,<\/b> who explained how professional DJs create and perform their mixes before bringing the series of speeches to a close by playing one of his own remixes, demonstrating that communication can also be expressed through music.<\/span><\/p>

An Increasingly High Standard<\/h2>
The panel of judges, made up of <\/span>Lauren Giera, Alex Feldman, PhD, Alexandra Ruiz-G\u00f3mez, PhD, <\/b>and <\/span>Tracy Wood, PhD,<\/b> evaluated each contestant on speech structure, public speaking skills, body language, authenticity, and their ability to engage the audience.<\/span><\/p>After a closely contested deliberation, the awards were presented to:<\/span><\/p>- Rodrigo Marques (USA – Portugal)<\/b>, for <\/span>Football: Breaking Lines and Breaking Barriers<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/li>
- John Choueiri (Lebanon – Ghana)<\/b>, for <\/span>The Cost of a Dream.<\/span><\/i><\/li>
- Jacobo Mijangos (Spain)<\/b>, for <\/span>Living out of a Suitcase<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
The event was also attended by <\/span>Sara Quay, PhD,<\/b> Provost of Endicott College, and <\/span>Warren Jaferian<\/b>, Dean of International Education, together with faculty members and students who supported the contestants throughout the competition.<\/span><\/p>A Tradition That Continues to Grow<\/h2>
With its third edition, the Speech Contest continues to establish itself as one of CIS University’s signature academic initiatives.
