Our pre-university program introduces you to university life, as you attend dynamic and engaging courses.

Our summer courses provide the perfect setting for learning about a specific area and demonstrating your commitment to academic success in a university environment. 

CIS First Step offers you the chance to experience learning through English, not only by listening to the course instructor, but also by collaborating with classmates.

App Design and Development

The digital economy is one of the main engines responsible for economic growth in the last decade. At its heart, is the “app economy”, which allows for an endless number of services that are adapted to user needs based on a wide range of factors, such as user preferences, location, tastes, hobbies, and more.

This summer course will introduce students to the exciting world of the design and development of mobile apps, from concept stage to their publication in digital stores.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the operation of Apps – one of the corner stones for the digital ecosystem of app stores.
  2. Understand the basis of app design based on a set of user requirements and needs.
  3. Establish a functional design of the app, from its interface to the main operating blocks needed for use.
  4. Develop the app in an optimal way using multi-platform development tools.
  5. Understand the quality assurance process used to test and validate the stability and quality of apps.
  6. Execute a soft launch of the app via pre-selected digital stores which are representative of the final target.

Creative Design

Students will learn about the principles of design and the creative process involved. They will learn how to develop a creative concept by brainstorming and sketching on paper. Students will then fully realize their concepts using graphic design applications including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate their knowledge of the principles of graphic design by incorporating balance and symmetry, effective use of color, and typography in their designs.
  2. Develop a creative concept using various brainstorming techniques.
  3. Bring creative concepts to life using graphic design applications.
  4. Create eye-catching logos and posters for both print and digital use.

Let’s Debate

Students learn about the principles of debating by exploring the processes of creating and delivering arguments and counter arguments and by speaking in front of an audience.

Emphasis will be placed on the development of sound and balanced arguments which are supported by credible evidence. Students will research in groups and engage in activities that support the development of critical thinking and guide decision making.

They will debate competitively and learn about the role of each speaker on a team. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of teamwork, mutual respect and sportsmanship.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Construct and develop sound and balanced arguments which are supported by reasoning and credible evidence.
  2. Deliver arguments (and counterarguments) convincingly in front of an audience.
  3. Analyze and evaluate various debates regarding delivery, content, evidence, and persuasion techniques.
  4. Practice ethical communication and adhere to the principles of sportsmanship and mutual respect.

Public Speaking

An introduction to topics in public speaking in which students gain introductory speaking skills. Through the practice of giving speeches both formally and informally, students get experience and build the confidence necessary to effectively speak in public.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Confront and manage the fear of speaking in public.
  2. Analyze, critique and provide useful feedback on presentations.
  3. Anticipate audience expectations and adjust the presentation to meet them.
  4. Demonstrate awareness of and skill in vocal delivery of a speech, use of presentation aids and nonverbal communication.
  5. Listen actively.
