Agreement Renewal Between Real Madrid Foundation – Crusade for the Children

Our students from the Dean’s List attended the renewal of the agreement between the Real Madrid Foundation and the NGO Crusade for the Children.

February 4, 2019.- The Real Madrid Foundation and the NGO Crusade for the Children renewed their collaboration for the development of social sports club schools in communities close to the Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique.

In an event chaired by Enrique Sánchez at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, María Díaz de la Cebosa, president of Crusade for the Children and CIS and Vasco Galante, project director of the NGO in Gorongosa, both ratified the collaboration agreement in the presence of the Ambassador of Real Madrid C. F., Álvaro Arbeloa. The social sports club project benefits 280 girls aged between 6 and 17, and incorporates actions related to education, health and environmental care. The initiative aims to promote the empowerment of women in their communities through the values of sport, as well as other cultural activities.

The Real Madrid Foundation facilitates the necessary educational material and carries out the training activities related to the coaches of the social sports club schools. Crusade for the Children, in collaboration with the National Park of Gorongosa, contributes the facilities and the personnel (educators/coaches) from which the Real Madrid Foundation methodology is formed: “In Favor of a ROYAL Education: Values and Sport.” The seven communities they work with are in one of the most disadvantaged areas, both in the continent and in the country. The medium-term objective is to increase the number of communities and beneficiaries that are part of the program.

María Díaz de la Cebosa has highlighted the responsibility of the organizations to “promote actions that contribute to the integral development of children, to help them to improve their global opportunities and to thrive within their own communities.” Álvaro Arbeloa has said that “it is a great responsibility and an enormous satisfaction to be able to continue collaborating with the work of Crusade for the Children in Mozambique. For the Real Madrid Foundation, this project in the National Park of Gorongosa links the values of sport with education while being mindful of the environment, something that we are also doing with the participants of schools in Spain, in a global focus on the future of all who inevitably receive an education.”
