At CIS, and at any other college or university the world over, students simply do not learn at the same pace – which is precisely why we developed our Student Support Program to ensure every students’ success.

Students are invited to optional afternoon tutoring sessions in the afternoon from Monday to Thursday.  Our own professors are also our tutors, and they personally meet with students in need of additional instruction to help them better understand course content, as well as to further develop study skills, organizational abilities, exam preparation, research, etc.  Our professors consider tutoring to be among the most fundamental of their responsibilities, and take pride in ensuring that students in need of additional attention successfully complete all assignments and earn satisfactory grades.

The program has three labs:

Writing Lab

Our Writing Lab offers are optional, but included in all of  our undergraduate programs.  We offer students one-on-one meetings with professors to discuss their writings, and to have them reviewed by experts prior to submitting them.  The experts then offer constructive criticisms, and work together with our students to allow them to express themselves as well as possible.  The Writing Lab is available two afternoons per week (the day and time changes each semester, and is always conspicuously posted ahead of time). The Writing Lab is optional, unless required for specific students by professors based on their academic performance.

The faculty member who is responsible for the lab writes a short report each semester on the topic of students’ attendance, as well as his or her observations.  The report itself is kept by the Academic Director and can be an important part of student evaluations.

The Writing Lab tutors can help the student in the following ways:

  1. Understanding the material.
  2. Clarifying the ideas.
  3. Organization of the information.
  4. Developing ideas and arguments.
  5. Research and using sources.
  6. Learning the correct form to cite sourcces.
  7. Composition of introductions and conclusions.
  8. Help with grammar, spelling and structure of phrases.

Math Lab

The faculty member responsible for the lab writes a short report each semester on the topic of students’ attendance, as well as his or her observations.  The report itself is kept by the Academic Director and can be an important part of student evaluations.

Accounting Lab

The Accounting Lab offers support classes for the area of Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting. The Accounting Lab is available two afternoons each week.  Students who are enrolled in Accounting courses, as well as students on academic probation who are experiencing difficulties in Accounting are required to attend these classes.  Failure to do so will result in an absence for their regular Accounting class.

The faculty member responsible for the lab creates a short report each semester on the topic of students’ attendance, as well as his or her observations.  The report itself is kept by the Academic Director and can be an important part of student evaluations.
